The New Zealand Optometric Vision Research Foundation has been established to provide funds for local research and vision care projects.
The initiative for this Foundation has come from the New Zealand Optometrical Association, members of the optometric profession, and the University of Auckland.
The Foundation would provide New Zealand's first full-time research facility, for university graduates and practicing optometrists to undertake additional research.
This Foundation will consider applications for projects each year and funds will be made available by the trustees to a wide variety of project types.
The major objectives of the Foundation are as follows:
The Foundation will be funded by contributions from optometrists, ophthalmologists, dispensing opticians, optical wholesale companies and donations by businesses and individuals.
